In today’s world there are many scams and frauds that business owners need to be aware of.  Only recently Ag-Nav Inc. was the victim of telephone system hacking through voicemail.

The hacker gains access to your voicemail system by trying different password combinations until they figure out the right code.  Once inside the voicemail system they can out-dial to any telephone number in any country they want and make expensive phone calls. 

Though many telephone providers will contact their clients and inform them that suspicious activities are taking place, for many, it is only once a telephone bill has been received and charges have accrued that they find out they are victims.

There are ways of protecting your business from a hacker.  Depending on your phone model, one of the easiest and fail proof ways is to have your local communications experts disable dial-out through voicemail.   Another is to have your telephone provider block incoming calls from the telephone numbers in question.  Newer telephone systems have built-in features that make telephone hacking extremely difficult.
